I picked up a model over the christmas break, the guy i flew with years ago had this Ricochet from Southern Sailplanes stored away.
After a quick trade, i was able to bring her home and back to life. There is a little wear and tear, but for 12years old it looks OK.

Sweet looking victory, hope the comp goes well for you. I haven't been in a comp for a while, just haven't had the erge to compete.

I'll get my buddy to take some video of her in flight when i fly her next.

Cheers

I was amazed to see your Ricochet. The standard thermal version of the Ricochet (ie same as yours) is my current project. I bought the kit direct from Ralph Learmont (Southern Sailplanes owner) about 12 years ago and have finally got around to finishing it. Actually, I've decided to cut the nose off and put a Kontronik480/33 at the front, just for fun. The wing chord is huge so I don't think it will be too overloaded. Anyway, I live in Hong Kong and there aren't that many flat sites. I'll try to get some pictures up over Chinese New Year.

Cheers,
Simon

Awesome stuff, i love the shape of the ricochet. Even though its old they still fly well.
I'm working on an eclipse from southern sailplanes. If you visit my website under the construction link http://www.rcsailplanes.tk , i have some progress build pictures.
I havent updated the pics for about a month, so i'm about 3 to 4 weeks of finishing it. The eclipse has to be my favorite, even though its fairly old, i just drule over T-Tails.
Would like to see some pics of you Rico.

Cheers

OK - I've taken a couple of snaps of the Ricochet this morning. Here's the first shot. Beside the plane is my (t)rusty Futaba 2 ch. AM set which I may use if I abandon using the spoilers. The radio has been a reliable performer for over 30 years - much more reliable than my flying:

and another angle; I plan to use 7 or 8 cells for the motor to get reasonable (not ballistic) performance:

Looks very nice, your futaba looks like the old Kraft set that my friend was using in my rico, it was 7 channel and i reckon it must be at least 20 years old. Not sure if it still goes though, i'll have to test it.
The thermal version flew extremely well as i can recall. My uncle had the thermal version, my friend the sport and i flew an Icarus. It was 3 channel (RES) 2.5 m same at the rico, but the nose on the fuselage was really pointy, like a javelin spear. I remember my spot landings were the best as a few feet from the spot , just give it some down elevator and it would stick into the ground nicely. LOL
You will get some fun out of it, i'm hoping to get out this weekend, so if my friend turns up i'll get him to take some video footage and some pics.

You should come for a fly at Cleveland sometime (Wednesday mornings). I have been twice and the chief instructor there is obsessed with his Ricochet. I put the Stepp 3 up on a winch for the first time and it was great - what a blast.

I would love to, one problem, i have to work. Its a right royal pain in the butt. Oh well, maybe on a weekend or something.

If i have the ecplise finished, i could bring that as well.
