Hi all:

I'm new to this forum; though to be frank, my interest is in foamies (yeah, you can boo and hiss now).

I just wanted to state that I love your attitude of "make it cheap, and make it fly!". The same thing is happening in the foamie section.

Frankly, I just came over here to see if there were any good plans I could "cherry-pick"; alas, not really, though there are some good ones in the spadtothebone.com section. To be even more frank, you folks take the cake!!! (and I thought us foamies were cheap!). I just can't see myself going back to "slimers", but that's just my preference. However, I CAN see the future of R/C flight gravitating more to electric (simply because of noise).

It will be interesting to see what the future will be in 5 or 10 years in our niche/part of the hobby..... (I'm thinking that the two of us [foamies and SPAD's] will come together - or maybe not, I guess it depends on all of the "traditionalists"). I enjoy the changes that have been made in R/C flight/building techniques myself, and have been hesitant to put anything down until it has been proven bad....

Anyones else want to comment on the future???

SPAD is FOAM, and coro and Depron and electric and glow and anything else thats cheap, basicaly its where all the tight asses or the RC world go to learn about making cheap planes, a lot of the scale SPAD's use foam, the new Espa3d is 1/4" fan fold foam.

As far as us SPADers are concerned SPAD is no longer (or ever was) just coro.

I think foam elect. R/C planes will be great for getting people started in R/C.
It's My feeling that a lot of them will step up to glow engine planes.
When I go flying I like to fly for hours it's nothing for Me to burn up a half gal. of fuel a day after work.
MayBe in ten years batteries will advance far enough to keep up with fuel . Who Knows?
As for FOAM/SPAD check out ( FOAM Building ) and
( Electrics Control Line and Free Flight ) at.

Spad lately has deffinately been leaning towrds Depron/Fanfold foam electrics. You may dispute that these aren't Spads, but it depends on what you consider a Spad. Spad is about doing it simple and cheap and creatively, often using materials purchased here and there that weren't intended for planes. The Depron flyers certainly fit this description. The guy who made the 3DX? He is a Spadder and doesn't know it, lol.

I guess i'll havae to agree with you gentlemen... Apparently, SPAD just means "do it cheap - however". I thought it meant coroplast, myself, and I always thought that stuff was just too heavy for E-power. I guess I was wrong. Viva la Fan Fold!!!
