I ran across an ad for a Hitec 6 channel buddy box. If it exists, it should be useful as a Reflex controller. You can power it with a RS 9 volt wall wart. The box costs about $65.

Are the US$? That seems to be rather expensive. Are you sure this is a radio or is it a joystick conversion? Here in europe you can get a Skysport6 in eBay at 20-30 US.

Hi Wolfgang:
Sorry, that's $US. I haven't seen any buddy boxes much cheaper let alone having 6 channels. No, it's not a joystick conversion.

Now I am getting your point. The typical US customer seems to be different from the ones in europe. There are hardly any radio's at ebay.com !!!!
For your reference, check ebay.de. Just an example:
MC10 computerised (http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3577204812&category=40706)
Non-computerised radio's starting from 15 ...
O.k., it seems there is no real big 2nd hand market for transmitters ... that's bad.
This one would be enough: Focus 4 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3167899943&category=34056)
Do you have any passive radio like the InterLink controler plus some soldering experience?

In order to fly helis and fixed wings, 4 channels are enough. You can even go for 3D styles. In that case, the software takes over some functions.
Ch 5+6 would be needed for gyro and autorotation, flaps and landing gear but most can be used with the keyboard or mouse. In case you would like to use the advanced functions of a computerized radio, a 7th channel could be assigned to pitch. Ch 8 is not used not but with some radios, complex mixing refers to channel 8.
