I have been out of motor flying for a couple years...I saw the Hanger Nine Edge 540 on sale for $279...Shucks, I can't build a kit for that...Is this a pretty good model for the money?? What is the best "gasoline" motor for it.?? Any ideas?? Thanks..Brian Smith BrianSmith1@charter.net
## BTW..It is the 78 inch span version..###

Brian,

Good to see you are still around. I havn't seen you on any of the boards recently. I haven't had one of the H 9 Edges, but you might want to consider a glow engine, something like the ST 2300 or the OS 1.60. I have an Aeroworks 1/4 scale Edge I have been building off and on for several years. I am planning to use the ST 2300 on mine.

I just saw your post today so I registered to rcgroups so I could reply. I have a Hanger 9 Edge with an OS 1.6. I flew it for the first time today. This plane and engine is an excellant combination. I would not recommend a gas engine. On the second flight I went vertical at about 1/3 throttle. Then I opened it up and watched it accelerate as it went straight up. I would say that vertical is unlimited.

You commented that you have not flown a powered model for a couple of years. This plane is quite responsive on the controls, so I would recommend that you get some flight time on something easier to fly before you fly the edge. And follow the manuals advice for the elevator travel. The elevator response on mine was similar to that of the Hanger 9 Cap 232, just not quite as bad.

I paid $359.99 for my Edge. In my opinion $279 is a very good deal.

Thanks Guys...
The model is on sale at Chief Aircraft.. $279...Thanks to you Loyd for logging on to answer my questions...
I may sell or trade the model..I really rather have a "gasser"..Glo motors are great, had a bunch of them, but I just like the gassers best.. Many Happy Flights..Brian

spend the extra money and get a "real" plane..like the Wildhare Edge..it is 28%, and you can power it with anything from a g62 to a DA-50..i have a brison 3.2 for mine..it is the plane in my avatar, and they are only $399 from www.wildharerc.com
