I destroyed a set of rims trying to remove superglued tyres - not a good
thing to use. Now I use hot-melt-glue-gun glue - sticks well but peels off
well when you want it.

Acetone ..

There's a tub that sells in model shops for £20 or more, with top-ups
costing about £15 for 200ml (can't remember exact volume)

I go to a local chemist who gets me Acetone in 5 litre lots for £5 ish ...

I have had good luck with boiling.
Throw the wheel/tire into a pot with water.
Bring to boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
Peel the rubber off the rim, sand the glue bumps off the plastic.

Really.

I have heard of baking, boiling, and using the acetone. I've also cut
them off and used a dremel to grind off the stubborn chunks.
