Hi guys, I'm back.....If you didn't see my previous thread regarding rudder linkage, I'm building/modifying an RC Surfer, and I tore out the cheesey "seal" they had on it, which wasn't worth a ****. Anyhow, here's a little drawing of how the pieces fit together, and I'm thinking the best thing to do would be to just run a bead of 100% silicone along the whole bottom piece (the light blue in the picture is supposed to be silicone) and then when the top piece is screwed on, it should compress the silicone and make a water tight seal no? Is there a better way to do it? Thanks again for any suggestions...

That should work fine.

Use some petroleum jelly and lubricate any portion of the top that may come into contact with the silicone. And rough up the lower side with some fine sand paper.

That way the "gasket" that is formed will stick to the lower "board" side, and the top will release the silicone, and leave the seal cleanly.

A few drops of water shouldn't cause too much trouble in the boat, so long as the speed control stays dry. Most of the other electronic can withstand a little moisture, or be easily dried out later. Always leave the top open for a day or two after running the "boat".
