Hi.

I've FINALLY got the stuff together to build the SPA3D. Well, not really, but I know EXACTLY where to get them. Anyway, I was wondering somthing:

The servos are out in the open, and on the side of the muffler. Doesn't the fuel get on the servos? If it does, doesn't it ruin the servos?

Thanks,
Erez

Yes it does got on them, no it dosen't ruin them.

it's only exhaust wich is mostly oil and some carbon.

you can also use a bit of silicone tube for an exhaust extansion which helps keep the mess of the plane

just take care of the receiver... make sure the fuel didn't get inside or it will shorts the whole thing. as far as servo's it's ok.

So, basiclly I've not got to worry about the oil getting into the gears of the servo and everything. As for the reciever, I was thinking of covering it with Saran-wrap (cling-film it's called here) and foam. Lots and lots of foam. The same goes for the battery pack.

Thanks for the help,
Erez

If you are worried about (Or dont want them dirty) the servos, try gluing with silicone a piece of plastic on the front side going over the servo to deflect most of the residue.

Well, you can take a tip from the airmadillo and similar trainier planes, and put the servo insode a spare fuel tank... that is, buy an extra tank, cut it apart, put the radio stuff inside that, maybe with a little foam for the RX. or just use half a tank, cut the back end free, the wires, rods and etc will hang out behind, but the tank structure in front will keep the oily airstream off the important parts.
