View Full Version : Micro heli recommendations???

I'm been thinking of getting a micro heli as my first heli (I've done
mostly hand launch gliders, battlebots, car, boats, hot air
balloons...) and was wondering is people had any suggestions among the
Piccolo, Hornet and Hummingbird. The Piccolo seems to have the
largest following since it's been around for a while which means a
nice selection of parts. The Hornet seems to be favored by the more
experience pilots suggesting that it performs well. The hummingbird I
have heard is the combination of the piccolo and hornet in terms of
quality of the heli and it's performance but being the new kid on the
block has fewer replacement parts. At this point I think I'm leaning
toward the Hummingbird and will probably pick one up unless people
suggest otherwise. Are there recommended hop-ups that should be
gotten right at the get go? Does it use plastic bearings anywhere? I
have the following parts kicking around which will probably end up in
the heli and I'll probably pick up a lithium pack or 2 as well. I
will of course need a driver for the tail rotor, suggestions?

Cirrus mpg-10 giro
MPI MX-30 servos
FMA 5M sub micro receiver
Mini axi 1215/16 brushless motor
TMM 1210-3s pl brushless driver

Sound like I'm on the right track?

Thanks,
Seth
