I have a Top Flite 1/6 scale 65"ws P-51 kit still in the box while I finish up my Adrian Page GeeBee-R2 kit. I want to mod the fuse of the Mustang to correlate with the streamlined reduced canopy/turtle deck seen in the pylon racers such as Dago Red, etc. Does anyone have any schematics or simple drawings for the revision of this kit to allow for this? I'll be running a Saito-100 Golden Knight on it, so it'll be hot. I don't want to just do another warbird copy.
Thanks

Hi Bob,
This would be an easy modification because you really don't have to modify the airframe at all. Instead of the stock canopy they just put a chopped down smaller one with a long fairing behind it. I would build the plane stock then find a good matching canopy from Sig and then just build up the rear turtle deck to match a picture. Then you could cut the wing tips off for a real scale look! Do a Google image search on Dago Red, no shortage of RC models with this modification.

Luke,
Thanks ever so much. I guess I just needed to visualize it through someone else's description. Makes sense. I am consistently impressed by the generosity of spirit of the rc community.
I want to do one of the new generation of racers soon. The low, squat high powered pocket rockets so popular out west, but have, as yet, not found a kit for same. If you happen to run across one, I'd really appreciate a link.
Thanks a bunch. This is gonna be a great winter project.

Now you're talking, Luke. Thanks a million. The schematics are SO very clear.
The Tsunami is the radical cockpit aft look I was after. You da man. Gracie mille!
