Hello, all!
I was considering getting a ZipZaps SE car, so I could replace the stock battery with a 1.5 volt NiMh AAA battery, get the motor/gearing setup for highest power and torque, and see how fast it'll run. I think I should'nt have much trouble beating the pants off those MicroSizers cars hobbico makes.

Zip Zap SE already have 2.4 volt in it. Even if you where to replace these with a 1.5? (Should be 1.2volts) Ni-Mh AAA battery it wouldnt fit. The AAA battery would be too long. Sorry to bust your bubble but I also have been thinking of what to do to it to make it better. So far I have only added a different motor and tried to fix the stering problem that all SEs have. So far I am having no luck with that yet.

you should just do a duel/tri cell mod it will work better

I nixed my wires trying to fix the steering (WHY MUST PEOPLE YELL AT ME? I can HEAR for crying out loud!) and am @#$@$@ FED UP with the stupid thing.
Is anyone up for putting a RFFS or JMP (smallrc.com has 'em for 90.00) in a Bitcharger? Sure, they're freakishly overpriced, but who can argue with proportional actuator drivers and an integrated proportional ESC?
That, and the fact that you could use a Li-Ion cell with one, which would garuntee REALLY fast performance w/ 20-40 minute runtimes. In other words, a single 1200 cell (available fromm allelectronics.com) provides the voltage of 3 200 NiMh cells, while weighing just as much. Although you would have to mount the thing on the top (wayyy too big for the battery compartment) it would be a speed demon.
And you could always wire a few 150's in paralell...

Would you like help with the wires that you had mixed up or did you get that fixed? I am not sure what RFFS or a JMP is but I am asumming that these are fully proportional electronics. I dont see why you couldnt mount a Li-Ion cell in/on a bitcharger or zipzap as they are. The only thing you would have to figure out is how to charge it. Someone would most likely have to make a separate standalone charger to do this. Also you could convert the car into a truck and then make a trailer to haul the battery around.
