The picture thread is moving along nice. Some people who browse the forums here may have never seen a Combat event. I think some videos would be nice and one place to check them all out would even be better. Post direct links to combat videos here.

Hi.
This one has more general airplanes, not just combat, but i think is a good "video" so I'll drop in a link here.
West Tennessee RC Fliers Video (http://www.wtrcf.org/photo%20gallery/videos/wtrcf%20videos.htm)
Maybe somebody who just got into the hobby by combat will want to see the other types of planes. ;)

The first video is a taste of what a combat session is like. It's a combination of flying and hitting and is 6 minutes long. The second video is a music video showing mostly just hits and is 2 minutes long.
Video's are quicktime compressed with Sorenson Video.
We're using the Unicorn from www.unicornwings.net
This is a fantastic combat plane, tough EPP, motor in rear, components internal.

Here's an avi of the second one for those who use DivX.

Hmm, the zip wouldn't open, or the quicktime movie wouldn't open? Does it give you a specific error? What version of quicktime are you using?

2.2 and i can only see the white screen and it plays the music and the little thing moves acrost the line on the bottom and it just doesn't do anything.

Ryan,
You'll need to get on apple's site and update your quicktime. I think it's at version 6.5 right now, so you're software is WAY old. Shouldn't take you too long, you'll be happy you did. Besides, I'll probably continue to deliver my videos as quicktime because I'm getting comfortable with the process.
And I just finished filming about 15 minutes of very cool high wind flight. The winds were gusting between 30-60 mph, and I got some pretty cool stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to cut a video together by Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. I may mix that video with our Monday combat session.

Electric Combat!
Many of us have purchased brushless setups to run our 3D planes. Now what can we do with that old GWS 300 or 350 "B", "C", or "D" drive and 10amp ESC? Well join in the fun and excitement of combat flying and events.
This is one of my friends plane. If you don't recognize it, it is suposed to be a P47 Thunderbolt, a fighter in WWII. These planes tow a 15 foot long ribbon and can loop, roll and manauver within a small skybox. Brush type motors are used exclusively. No videos but a wealth of information.
Check out the info on RC Groups. Follow the link below

IRONE,
The RCCA (Radio Control Combat Association) is the AMA SIG for RC Combat. We are always looking for new ideas and this appears to be a very good one. Please go to www.rccombat.com and go to the combat forums and post these same pictures and your rules. I think you may get some play there.
Best Regards,
Lou Melancon, President RCCA

Electricman,
Check here this is the rules from AMA site. Clubs might have different lengths for differents planes.
Example:foamys, 1/2A,ect..
Seems by AMA documents they use same size for the planes.
Look at page 3 section 4.7

Here is a short video of the 2008 AMA Combat nationals in Muncie, IN. It is primarily 2548 class, but I did discovered there is about 15" of 2610 mixed in on some of the close up shots. Still, you get the idea. No collisions in this group, but there will be as I get to editing the other divisions. Hope you enjoy.

Our club flies Swizzle Stick combat, over a series of 3 events every summer.
The first video describes the competition and the planes, the second shows the final round, including the Money Round, where each entry pays $20 and everyone goes up together. This time there were 10 planes in the air, the surviving plane wins the pot. My son won the overall combat and split the $200 pot in the money round.
I don't see these kind of planes anywhere on the forum, does anyone else fly them?
