Hey all,

What plane could do 3D solidly on a OS 40 fx? By solid I mean authority to punch out of a hover, and do all of the normal 3D moves. 2:1 thrust to weight ratio...it would be nice.

Also, I would prefer the plane to be an ARF.

Thanks in advance!

A Formosa would be wicked. What a wild power to wieght ratio.

Cam I did a quick search on "Great Hobbies site.

I didn't find the airplane that I was looking for. My local Hobby Store has a couple of 3D Giles they are ARF's and I've looked at them. They are very light and a OS-40FX should make it :D :D .
However I don't have any first hand experiance with it.
(I couldn't find a link to a pic just now)
I've been drooling over the Hanger 9 Funtana S for quite a while now, and the add's list all the way down to a 0.32 2-stroke. I'm planing to get one when they're in stock. (my NIB Satio 72 looks sad sitting on the shelf, it needs a home)

I'm flying a Magic (http://www.greathobbies.com/scart/productinfo.php3?PartNumber=MTC123740) with a OS-40FP using a 11x4 prop and it will hang on the prop. At full throttle mine has been repaired and is a little heavy now.

The other plane I spotted that might do OK (again I haven't seen one fly and don't know too much about it) would be the Flip 3D (http://www.greathobbies.com/products/k/kyo/kyo11141b.gif) looks sorta OK
Rick

Trying to fix the link Oh well I can't seem to get the flip-3d link working right but at least you'll get a pic (no info though) the Magic link shows all the spec's and price.

Not if I get there first:D
Oh wait it's a longer drive I won't be back in time to get the kids from school:)
I don't know for sure if it's a scale of anything but it looks like it could be.

Some real airplanes modify'd for airshows cam probably come really close.
Only thing that might be a concern a 40 FX it might not puch out of a hover I'll Pm an email that I got from Ed Moorman he writes the coloum "Fun Aerobatics" for the mag RC/Report and I've been told that there will be a review of the Funtana in the Feb issue.

Thanks! I thought about that, and I'm thinking abotu saving up for either a .46 or a O.S. 70 4 stroke.

You'll have to go SUPER light airframe for a .40 to "punch" out of a hover.

If you don't mind the looks and want all out performance, I'd go with a pod/boom type hard-core fun-flyer...like the Madness, Stick-it, or somthing like that.

If you want FAST building light airframe....check out my Plank 40...it's all up weight with a GMS .47 right now is 3.6lbs (no fuel) ready to fly....

I've got two flights on it so far and it tracks like on rails, loops like it wants to bite its own tail, will knife edge loop...and I'm SURE will hover (working on engine issues)

I also was thinking about scaling up somthing like this....JUST FOR a .40 sized....1/2 or 3/4 inch foam....could have it flying in 3 days...

Let me know if you want to try "something alternative" and I'll draw it up for ya...with measurements....

Good Luck!
