Collapsable V-Tail:

I've been thinking of a way to make a "Removable" v-tail even more helpful in transporting a sailplane.

Here is what I am considering right now as a possible experiment to be done on "pod-and-boom" type sailplanes like the Mantis.

Has anyone already done something like this? (surely someone has.) Can you provide feedback and maybe pictures of your results?

Or glue into each panel a threaded rod and incidence peg. Then drill (accurately) the tail boom right through. Put nut on end of rod that pokes out. Tra la.
I have done this on a couple of sailplanes upto 72" span. Incidence pegs I usualy use 2 or 3mm carbon rod. The threaded rods are probably already in your toolbox.....you normally put a clevis on one end and the servo or pushrod on the other.
