Hi guy's
after seeing so much about the fma co-pilot i decided to get one to fit on my rap30, at the min i am using a jr rx with futaba servos ... The unit is mounted on a custom plate to the rear of the main body , well out the way of the exh. The prob i get is , even with the smallest amount of gain onto the unit the heli shakes real bad .. the only time this will stop is if the unit gain is off ???? anyone got any ideas ????/

I have read a lot of posts about the co-pilot. from what I have read, some people have a lot of trouble with them and other's have good luck (I have never tried one myself). A lot of people fell they are a not the best thing to learn you how to fly helis, they are just a crutch. If you learn to fly with co-pilot and something go's wrong with it, you are in big trouble. That is why a lot of people wont use them. You should teach your brain to fly with out it.

I had this problem with mine with a PCM rcvr. Changed to a FM and problem solved.

I have a voyager E learned to set it up and fly it without the co pilot; I bought the co pilot with the intergrated receiver and put it in the heli; my advice----set the gain at about 25 percent; this thing is better than sliced bread, I think the folks that don't like them have the gains set to high.
This thing is like adding a gyro to your whole heli.

Are you recallibrating it in the field everytime you fly (The manual says you have to do it every time because of changing weather conditions?) If you get less than 5 you shouldn't use it. Are you leaning it on it's side to do it also (callibrating)? When you get the signal that it's done callibratiing you need to upright it then move your ail. back and forth once you set the heli back level and upright. Back away when you do this. Set the gain to 25-50%. You should be fine. I have used them on BIG Gassers with no prolbems at all!!!!!! Any more questions feel free to email me below.....

But no matter what anyone says. it is better to learn how to fly without the co-pilot. it just makes u feel ur in control. when u take it of, ur just a overtuff nOOb again.

For all the diehards out there that think the co pilot controler is a crutch. Whats the tail Gyro? would you call that a crutch?
sorry I love my co pilot.

A gyro isn't a crutch, it a necessity. If your into 3D flying, there is moves that you couldn't do unless you have a heading hold gyro. You don't need a co-pilot to do any moves that I know of.
Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with buying a co-pilot (if you feel you need one). Personally, I feel that the money should be spent on fuel and practice, practice, practice, that's what makes good pilots.

I bet it would be nice for a one-man camera ship, but i don't imagine that it would benefit the 3D heli pilot much.

if u need a piece of electronics to fly for u, u should consider getting a new hobby.

if you all need to shoot down someone asking an honest question, you should consider getting a life.
