I rarely refer anyone to a print article these days, but Flying Models just published a very, very good piece on how to make your 1/2A Cox motors sing.
It was by Milton Dickey, who is a well know SMALL modeler and goes by Dickeybird on here and on that other on line R/C place...;)

Yes but we were working on making him into a Norvellite :)
I guess he wrote that back before he discovered Norvel power hehehehe. Im still wondering what he has done to the Norvels he has. I dont think he is the type to just break them in and fly them.
I subscribed to flying models havent got my first issue yet. Maybe they will send me this issue as first issue.

Hi fellers, thanks for the kudos. I'm glad you enjoyed my very first published article. :)
Although I was "raised" on Cox'es and love the challenge of making them run to suit me, I've picked up a couple of early Big Migs (REAL cheap!) and have been running one of them with pretty good results. Obviously they make more power due to their more modern design and metallurgy but geez I do have a reputation to uphold!;)

ps: Ask Dave Campbell about the Norvelite thing....he and I had a lot of fun over on RCU good naturedly jousting back & forth about Cox'es and Norvels. Come to think of it, take a look at this: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_546634/mpage_1/key_norvelites/anchor/tm.htm#546634 You fellows may not have seen this thread and might get a giggle or 2 out of it. ;)

If I recall it right Dickeybird was such a Coxist that someone had to GIVE him a Norvel :) I seam to recall someone giving him one some time around SMALL. Correct me if Im wrong hehehe.
Ewwww....... just looked back at the word Coxist darn that sounds scary! We WON'T go there!

Thanks Frank, it was raining and we couldn't fly the weekend I put that "OK you Norvelites...." thread together. I spent a few hours setting up the scenes and taking digipix. The original idea came from flying buddy Brian Pate's twisted mind. Us Cox guys had been taking a beating from some mouth-ey "Norvelites" on the forum so we decided to "escalate" the battle a little. ;) As the English say: "takin' the pi$$ out of 'em."
