I got my B3 up to 75.5 MPH on 12 cells the other day. Is that a record?
Probably not... What did Cliff Lett have to do to make his 111 MPH record
official?

he sure wasn't using b3! It was either a TC3 or an RC10L3 I can't remember
cause they tried both cars that day.
That sure is impressive for a B3 though.

The article I saw said he used an L3O with 24 cells for the 111 MPH run. I
was just wondering if it was done on a closed course and if it was an
official record. My run was a straight shot through a huge parking lot.
I'd have no chance in breaking any records if my car had to turn...

he did two runs with two diffrent cars. The L3 had a 2 turn aveox motor and like 50 cells,
the tc3 had a similar setup, but a 'milder' mill, IIRC.

It'd be really interesting to see any pics that you have of that beastly B3!
At least list some of the mods you made- such as what wheel and tire package
you used to handle that kind of speed...

The motor was a Lehner brushless BasicXL 4200 with a BK Warrior 9918 ESC. I
used two 6 cell GP3300 battery packs. The pinion gear was a 35 and the spur
was a 66. The rear tires were foam and the front "tires" were rubber
O-rings on modified front wheels. Since I was using the front wheels to
measure speed with my custom onboard speedometer, I had to make sure their
diameters would stay constant. I have a picture or two I could email you if
you'd like.
