I've been sailing an RC sailboat now for about 3 years, and I think it's
time for a new boat. I've been looking around the net for some idea's,
but haven't seen what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of a company
which produces RC boats based on 16th/17th century warships (i.e.
Brigantines and other square sailed ships)?
Thanx
Bryan

Hi Bryan
Check out www.modelexpo.com.
They are in Florida and sell many ship models like that. They are
mainly for display but I would think that some could be modified for
RC use.
Good luck

Wow, those guy's don't mess around. Unfortunately a little big - for
both my car and my pocket book...
Maybe I can design my own ;-)

If you go to www.swcp.com/usvmyg and chase the links down to "square
riggers" you'll find an interesting series of articles, including
plans for a free-sailing boat. Several people have built successful
R/C models to these plans.
Cheers,
Earl

Well they do have most of the line drawings that you need to build your own posted with each ship.:D

Hi I'm new here. I have just started building my own version of this same boat. I downloaded the plans and instruction. Then I enlarged the drawings and offsets to the actual size. 1 inch butts and 3 inch station lines. 34 inch long hull. I'm using pink foam from Home Depot. I just got my first RC radio monday in the mail. A futaba 2DR. I removed the centering springs so that it will stay were I put it. This is emensly satifying. :) I'm starting to rasp down the hull now.
