GWMP has a new sport ducted fan kit that performs well on the inexpensive wattage "powerfan 400". It's called the "E-Jet-400" and the kit is laser cut, 30" span, 180 sq inch wing area, and they end up in the 16 to 18 ounce range with a 3S thunder power 2100mah lipoly pack. Price is $29.95
Website at www.gwmp.net will be updated shortly with an E-Jet-400 page

Hi,

I'd like to make the E-Jet prop powered, Speed 400 with 600mah nicads. Would 8 to 10 600mah cells fit and would the CG be OK?

Thanks,
Kirby

Gary, is there a Ni-Cad or NiMh battery combination that works? It's great that it uses the inexpensive fan, and the kit is quite reasonable, but that Thunder Power pack is a little pricey compared to the rest of the affordable pieces.

(I think I'll need one even if your answer is 'no')

I have the plane built out and ready to go. Just waiting on the ESC. I'm going to try it initially on 7 600AEs and see what happens. The fan seemed to put out a good bit of thrust (before breaking the impeller that is) so hopefully it can haul that pack around.

If it doesn't cut it I will go to lipoly. Only reason I haven't yet is I have so many nicad/hi packs. Plus price like what was mentioned.
