Hi.
I'm thinking of going into 1/2A planes, and I wanted to know:
Is there anywhere I can get free 1/2A plans form?
Also, how much do .049 engines cost?

Thanx for any input

This site has several free plans. The Littlest Stick is a good one but has to be enlarged on a copy machine to be .049 size.
It is for a .010 with a 19 inch wingspan in the original size.
At the 150% size it has a 30 inch wingspan. You do not need incidence in the wing if you have elevator.

At the bottom of the page is a link for a lot of classic 1/2 A plans for $6.00 each.
You can get a Cox .049 Black Widow for around $35 and a AP .061 for $39 The Norvel .049 and .061 are about $10 more.

Be sure to look at the Ace r/c models at Quantum models.
The Whizard is a great one to start with and uses a .049 engine.

Also you can download many plans for smaller electric motors and must beef up the nose area slightly to allow for 1/8 plywood firewalls or beam mounts to mount the engine to. Figure anything with about 200 to 300 sq inches of area depending on how fast you like to go and how lightly you build.

Go to www.google.com and enter in the search words "free model airplane plans download" but without the quotes and you'll find a lot of links or pages with links.

A lot of the plans offered will be smaller or larger than you want. But a lot of those plans will be DXF or DWG files for CAD. If you take the time to learn how to do basic scaling you can modify the plans to suit whatever size engine you want. Of course sometimes the materials and methods may need modification but if you use other plans of the correct size as a guide it's not that hard to fill in the modifications needed.

Your engine prices may vary based on your location. You are in the best position to say how expensive the engines are in Israel.

Hello,
Look at ...

Everything free, but must look through everything to find the wanted ones. Hope this helps!
