Am building a twobyfloyd cobat bird it has a 47" wing span and foam core. Would a 45 size engine be to much for this type of plane and what would you cover the wing with. 1/32' balsa or monokoteor both. This is my first time at working with a foam core wing. HELP Please.

need a bit more info on the plane for the enginne question.
span 47" cord?? total weight?? what combat class??
as for the wing, heres what i would do.
get about a 3/8" arrow shaft, remove about 3/8" from leading edge and epoxy the arrow shaft on.
find a bit of hard wood about 3/16 thick and about 3/4 as wide as your wing profile at the highest point (if the wing is 1" thick the wood will be 3/4" wide by 3/16 thick) cut a groove in the wing 3/16 wide to take the spar and epoxy it in.
get some rip stop nylon (parachute material) from your local sewing suply shop and cover the wing with it using PVA glue thinned 50/50 with water (practice on some scrap first) then when dry seal it all with water based poly urethane (verathane?) paint

Woodsy:
This plane as a 9" cord and is 47" long. i Emailed cutting edge and they suggested using a 36" wood ruler for the main spar, i really like the idea of using a 3/8 shaft for the leading edge. i am not familiar with the PVA glue, is it the type used with PVC pipe?
This plane is still in the building stage and have no ideal what is flying weight will be.no one else in the club i belong to hear in Edmond Oklahoma flys a combat of this size, it will be for sport flying only. the Engine is a Tiger Shark .46 i picked up on a bargin tabel at a local hobby shop very little money. no big loss is i crash it.

Oky doky
yep the ruller will be fine BUT you may have to cut it down in height to suit how thick your wing is.
the wing at 47" x 9" (does this include ailerons?) is smaller than the SPAD wings i generaly build which are about 48"x10" but if you keep the weight under about 41/2lb - 5lb the wing loading will be similar to mine, and with the TS46 it will scream.
PVA glue is just standard white wood glue.
i have 3 TS engines 2x46 and 1x40 IMHO the 46's are VERY good engines with as much power as a GMS47, i run mine on 20% castor 5% ntro fuel with an OS#3 plug, the bottom end is a bit touchy to adjust but great engines

No, it's without ailersons, Guess when it's finished it would be 10". So you think the TS is a good engine, this makes me feel good because i only gave $15.00 for it. and it is new.
Thanks for all the help
