Hi all,
Just wanted to say I posted plans for PLANK 40 on my web page.
http://home.comcast.net/~sherbertson/

I've added a couple options that will make it easier to balance.
- ADDED TAPER!! Looks cooler anyway
- Changed aspect ratio (short-stubby wing for insane fast roll rates)
- Engineered for use of 1/2 sheet of 1 inch Foamular 250 (a $5.99 sheet will almost make TWO airframes- you'll have to scrounge a 6inx30in piece of 1.5 in thick, I just happen to have a bunch laying round)
- Adjustable Motor mount rails (again to aid in CG placement)

My buddy and I are gonna do a couple for funfly/combat/formation flying... GMS .47's

I will post construction pics if I ever get around to it. I think I have Foamie R/C ADD. I get like 5 projects going all at once...gotta start nailing these to completion.... BTW - big PLANK is almost ready...

That looks a bit over-powered!:D

Yuppers...it's over-powered....but still flying on 840 sq inches of wing area!!
at 3.5 lbs ready to fly...(estimite) with 6lbs thrust ...
and a wing loading of 10.4 oz sq ft (if I did my math right)

Based off my calculations and prior experience, it should be a riot....

Close to 80 sq inches of rudder too....hold on to your shorts...were going SPINNING!!

If you notice...there no airfoil to it....just going to round off the leading edge a bit and drop a 36 inch 3/8 hardwood spar down it just behind the CG. Then a run of 3 inch wide fiber tape over the spar and around the bottom....

Little packing tape here and there...should have it going in about 6-8hrs...

Yippie!
Foamies ROCK!!
