You need the lead, says you get the lead with the software you pay
for.
Might have a dongle in the lead so a "trial" is no good.
Buy it.
Its not like you have to evaluate its operations, its only a logger of
the fundamental operation which is in the hardware not the software,
the software doesnt do squat, just logs and saves so you either want
historical charge info or not.

It is a vertical market software (limited to specalised users which is
offset with higher price) and they dont do shareware business model
with trials as a rule.
