View Full Version : Question Aerofly or RFG2??

I'm about to buy a simulator and have it narrowed down to the Aerofly Pro and the RFG2.

I am basically a sailplane and electric (fixed wing) pilot. Which of these two is best for my purposes? Does RFG2 have sailplanes and aero tow? I have a MPX transmitter and would like to use it; any problems?

Thanks for any thoughts!

I don't think that either of these sims would be too far off. My personal preferance is AFP, as I see little difference in the simulation accuracy, and only small differences in graphics. RFG2 I do belive could be set up for aero tow, however; thier models are not as easy to modify or create, and I know of no one who has made that modification. AFP, of course has the aerotow option ready to go. To be quite honest, I am not as impressed with the thermal models of either as I would like to be, but it works.
One last thing. The limits of simulators limit the sailplanes the most. There is something very important about feeling the air. The simulator has improved the smoothness of my flight though.

I decided to go with Aerofly Pro with the expansion pack. I'll post my thoughts on the sailplane and thermal portions after I've played with it for awhile.

I use AFP with a Multiplex TX without any problems.

Sailplane stuff OK but simulators and soaring just don't mix.

Your best bet for correctly modeled thermal flight is the CRRCSim simulator, downloadable for free from the Yahoo Groups CRRCSim website. Unfortunately every other simulator I have tried to date is rather poor at thermal modeling.

AFP is much better than G2 IMO. I own both (G2 for a while first) and once I bought AFP I have not started up G2 in about a year. You won't regret your purchase. I don't fly the sailplanes though. Usually large extras and helis.
