Well, it had to happen some time. Was flying the Kalt Baron 30 today and had
hovered to trim out the recently installed CSM 400, then took it for a few
circuits! Was flying nicely BUT...

The problem was getting the bugger back down! Not enough negative pitch so
when I pulled back on the collective, the power went off and it just floated
downish in a fairly uncontrolled way.

I decided to put it down a fair way from where I was standing and, as it
turned out, directly into the very low Sun. I lost it and it seemed to fall
over once it was on the deck. Result, a boom strike, broken mains and it
fitted the boot of the car MUCH better on the way home! The boom is the
shape of a banana!!!!!

Leaning points.

Don't look into the Sun
Always check you have enough negative pitch
Always check that you have an Idleup with negative

Guilty as charged!!!

Does anyone know of somewhere in the UK where I can source a boom and pitch
lever for the above, that seems to be the extent of the damage, apart from
the blades of course!
