View Full Version : Attempting to learn Chaos

Could anyone give me a description of the control inputs for Chaos?
I am practising on Realflight, just as well as I am ok for 3-4 revolutions
then loose it & pummel into the ground time & time again!

On the cyclic I'm moving around in a circle which seems to work but I don't
seem to have a hope in hell of sinking +ve/-ve pitch. I'm using a custom
colour scheme which gives good viz upside/right way up but even so it's
impossible!!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Tim.

Tim - I know what you mean.

Really hard for an idiot like me to explain but here goes...

Basically, the collective should follow a sinusoidal path against the chaos
cycle - when the heli is fully upright, you should have around 75-80%
collective in and inverted, you should be at around 20-25% (roughly). As
the heli goes through 90deg to the ground (either way - nose or tail
pointing at the ground) this should more or less correspond to half stick
(zero pitch). Imagine you are not piroing - just forward flipping at a
constant height. This is the same kind of inputs you reqiure with chaos
though you'll find you don't need as much deflection on the stick as with
straight flips. The other tricky part at first is keeping the rudder input
constant throughout.

Good luck mate

Actually it's a good explanation, and at least I know I'm on the right
track!

This seems to be one manoeuvre that I have never seen written about in any
of the magazines?
