WOW Steve!! That was Quick.. Nice shootin' Tex! LOL

Yup... Canadair Tutor.....Not TOOTER like my two boys laughed about when I first mentioned the name of the plane... they giggled there little hearts out:) Daddy's making an Airplane that toots.. he he.

It will be in the traditional Snowbird colors of Course!!

I am copying the construction method used in my MB-339 except I added 3/8 triangle stock in all of the corners to stop the foam from breaking so easily...hope it works.

I am a busy boy with all of these "Secret projects" as well as my own list of projects for the winter.

Bruce:)

How are you setting the thrust line on yours? Since the wings are below the fuse datum, I set mine at 2' up? thrust( i.e. the prop end of the motor is 2' higher than the fuse end). Seems to work OK at the speeds I fly. Just a thought.

Thanks!

It will be as light as possible...my Mb-339 is around 24 oz. and still goes well. I hope to get this one closer to 16 oz....

I may try to cover it in plastic film for that shiny but tough aspect.

It has a MH-43 airfoil at the root and a BF-101 symetrical one at the tip. W/S is 30" but that is stretched a little from scale.

Barry..I guess you know by now that this "Mosquito" has a RED and White stinger... ;)

HI All

There was a thread about only having EDF models in this "JET" forum...I wanted to respond but the thread was ,for some reason, closed.

WHY???

IF I may... I think any model that represents a real jet should be allowed and discussed in the Jet forum. Where else will I look to find Jet type models if not in the JET forum???

Try and find many JETS in the Scale or foamie forums lately???GOOD LUCK.

Perhaps we need a few more Forums to straighten it out. Perhaps an discussion board index would be in order as well??

Tutor continues on as a pusher, the intakes are way to small for an EDF scale representation of the real thing, other wise, IT TO would be an EDF!!

I like EDF, I support and look forward to ALL jet type models. WE need more of them out there or our Hobby will surely die.

Bruce:)

It's interesting.

My contribution to that thread was to ask if perhaps the "Jet" forum was mislabeled. Maybe it should be called "EDF". I was curious to see how this would be received.

My POINT was: That the posts & pics of various types of "jet-like" aircraft were perfectly in line with the given title, given its broad (and undefined) nature. I suspect that the original selection of this "loose" title was deliberate.

My OPINION: Keep the present forum title. Clarify the meaning of the title. Something like "Electric-powered model aircraft that evoke the appearance and/or flight characteristics of a scale or fictional turbine-powered aircraft." Maybe somebody can better capture the essence of a "Jet forum" with different words. I see that I've already (unintentionally) excluded the Sci-Fi "warp driven" etc craft, but I suspect that many "jet" enthusiasts would want them included.

Toward the end of that thread, however, it was looking like the moderator felt a title change was in order. This was not the intent of my original post, and I think it would be a shame. Eddie P captured my thoughts (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?postid=1481278#post1481278) better than I could word them, especially the part about orphan threads.

Daily posts to the Jets forum aren't so plentiful that it needs to be subcagegorized. Yet.

IMHO.

Yeah Bruce! Ahh the fond memories. hehe

Your both right, and I think what happened in that thread was a great insightful move on the moderators part to shut it down. I dont think most give them the credit they deserve for the seemingly invisible things they get done.

Hi Bruce,
if you don't mind me asking, what do you use to create the canopy frame? Also, how did you create the canopy separation line between the front and the back?

Hi Dan

I use thin tape to do the Frames, two thin pieces with a gap for the separation between the windscreen and canopy.

Simple enough eh!

Hi Bruse

Very nice model, I was wouldering the over all size of the plane?
As I am starting to build one for a Vasa fan, with a 44" wing span.
As for the question about htrust line, I have a drawing for a large pusher and all insedents are 0' degrees. wing, engine and elavator.
Very nice plane, love to here how it flys.

Hi Spar

THanks for the interest,

I have about 5 other projects that need immediate attention due to my wifes encouragement to "FINISH" something before starting ANYTHING else. ;)

The Tutor is project #5 to be finished...

Can't wait to finish and crash them so I can get on to others :p ;) :D

Here's a little peek at my Tutor's progress. I am trying to have it ready for a Funfly here in Southern Alberta on July 9..should make it

Perhaps this thread could be moved to Pusher Jets as I seems more appropriate. Thanks.
