Ok, I'm an elec flyer and was given a Cox Tee Dee .049 and a Cox Tee Dee .09. I asked a Q in another thread and got no answer. I have ordered the Stealth from House of Balsa and my Q is: how do you convert to throttle control a non-throttled engine?
I have one engine, unknown manuf ... looks like a Cox, but it has a "sleeve" around the exaust port. It moves to open and close off the port. Is this a form of throttle control? Or do I just fly till it quits .......LOL
Thanks for your time,
Fred

The sleeve around the cylinder is a throttle. You attach a pushrod to the circlip going around it, with the little holes.
To make a non-rc out of the TD05 and 09RC, just wire the throttle full open with a paperclip or something. As simple as that.

That sleeve you are taking about may be a muffler. I had a .049 powered car with a muffler on it. It had a big sleeve around the lower part of the cylinder and a band around the sleeve to open or close to muffel the engine. The throttle sleeves will have a connection or a loop to connect to a servo by a wire.
If you don't have a throttle just fly until you run out of fuel then glide in.

Fred,
Save yourself the trouble. Sell the Cox engines to a freeflighter or round and rounder and use the proceeds for a Norvel .074. Throttles exremely well right out of the box and has excellent power to weight ratio. Extra care and technique is required for the break in but well worth it.
