These were available, what 6-7 years ago? Man, it seems like a long time.. I have one in the box too and the TD .09 to go with it, never got around to doing anything with it. I'm told they fly pretty well, the areas and moments look pretty good to me.

It's a nice airplane, I had one. With a TD09RC. It was actually made by Hacker in the Czech Republic, extremely nice workmanship. The Cox Katydid, I beleive, still lives on as one of the Norvel branded ARFs.
The TD09RC was not THAT powerful(the non RC version was VERY powerful) and it could have used a little more power, for my tastes, anyway.
$32? Dude, you got a STEAL. Well done!

Thanks . It feels strong, and the workmanship is fine and clean. One problem , though. I can't seem to locate an .09 R/C. Found the .09 Control line but I need a throttle. So what do you guys think about a .15? I need input here. Also have more pic's if anybody's interested

A 15 is a bit much, it will change the way the airplane flies, and might rip the wing off. Try the norvel 074, I have heard it outpowers many 10 engines...

Here I am again with the same question: why would one deed a throttle on a 1/2A model? With some trimming flights (short tank), al your questions about its flight abilities will be answered; after that it is most likely that you will seldom use the throttle (my experience only!).

Grab the c/l TD, pick the prop the model (not the one the engine does best on) needs, and go for it..

Don't bother with an .09. A Norvel .074 has the power of a .10 at half the weight.

Some CAN use a throttle. This one, for example. With a TD09 at full bore, it's pretty harrowing for five minutes of blasting around, plus you cannot land without a throttle. Plus you can do stall turns and such. Some planes can use it, some need to be going full bore all the time.

I'm going to have to lean towards the Norvel .074. My flying experiance to date consists of the Wattage Mini-Max, Wattage Hawk, Zagi 400x, And the Wattage Super- Decathlon EP, in that order. I would really feel better with a throttle. Plus this is the finest plane I have owned and I would like to take care of it and not be repairing it all the time. I don't care if it was cheap. Sure , my Zagi runs WOT pretty much all the time, and dead-sticks are no problem, any old bush works just fine. Just last week she was speared on a manzanita bush, clear through the wing. A little bit of tape and she was back in the air. But my Super-Decathlon has been a different story. If I got paid my normal wage for repairing the thing, It would be quite an expensive airplane. I still have a lot to learn.

Hey Doink,

I got a Cox Scorpion at Hobby People for the same price. I bought an old O.S. FP 10 on Ebay for $30 that I'm going to throw in her. Should be fun! Good luck with yours.

I was just given one from a friend. He has 2 more complete and new in box. Mine is missing the cowl. Can anyone tell me cn you get a new one from any company? I was told to use standard size servos because it doesn't glide too well?

Haven't finished mine yet. Big fires here in So. Cal are still keeping a lot of us busy. How do servos and glide rates go together ?

Now I get it. I was going to use Hitec HS 88's, which I don't know if they're Micro or Standard. Do you think they're ok ?
