View Full Version : T-Maxx - Sloppy Steering

My three week old T-Maxx 2.5 has developed sloppy steering - to the
point where it's increasingly difficult to avoid having it flip when
driving at high speed.
Cornering has become an almost-stopped affair now.
I got a new servo-saver for it last night, but then read some posts
today stating that replacing it doesn't really help...although
admitedly I havn't tried the new one yet.
Anyone have a solution to this?
Reply or email great.. For email, remember to remove antispam from

Okay, steering problem fixed.. When replacing servo saver, noticed
broken suspension arm.. :-)
New RPM arms in, problem gone..
However, today, I've noticed another problem - the slide carb is
horribly sticky... Today I noticed when running over some inclines
that I was having trouble "goosing" the engine as it got air...
Likewise, it was taking a second or two to come back down to idle once
the throttle was released.
I initially thought it may be the receiver batts dying, but upon
closer inspection it was clear that the carb was just sticking up at
about the 50% position.
Reading now, I hear that this is a fairly common problem..
I took the carb off this evening, tore it down as much as I can seem
to do without phsically removing the slide, and cleaned it
out....compressed air, et al.
Back together, lubed up...and only marginally better - still sticks
alot at about the 50% position.
Anyone experienced this before? Fixes? I'm considering going and
grabbing one of my old rotary carbs from one of my aircraft engines
and putting it on the T-Maxx..but the new "slide" carb is supposed to
be the best thing since sliced bread..but so far I ain't seeing any
big benefits, only troubles.
Suggestions on how to remedy the carb problem?

If youve narrowed it down with certainty that it is the carb, then by all means pull the
slide out and inspect. Ive personally never had that happen, but similar problems where
dirt magically gets inta a sealed system are common.

>Clean it regularly, make sure all linkages are free and operating correctly
In the 4 week lifespan of my T-Maxx, I've now had it out three
times..the latest being last night.
Even with a thorough cleaning, it'st still binding.. When removed,
and grasped right at the end (pulling "straight" out on the slide) it
moves relatively easilly...
However, as soon a the linkages are hooked up, things bind up again,
as the linkage that is attached to the slide itself from the servo
applied a bit of sideways 'push' to the slide while actuating it.
This tiny bit of lateral movement seems to be causing the binding.
Hmmm...

I'd make sure the servo gears are ok, and that the mounting tabs (ears)
on the servo case are intact.
