no it's not.

It's just different.

75 mHz will be less prone to interference.

I think you might be confusing modulation with frequency.

FM radios are less prone to interference than AM.

There are FM and AM radios in both the 27MHZ frequencies and the 75MHZ
frequencies.

i like 27 just because it's less likely someone will be on the same channel
i am at the track.

75 mhz
* 30 channels
* easy to find a free frequency
* is used on most high end radios, so reusing the receiver is easy.

27 mhz
* 6 channels
* comes with every RTR in existance
* you will compete with every newb out there for a channel
* you will also compete with nikkos and tycos because they also use 27mhz
* is not compatible with high end radios unless you buy an extra radio part
that is expensive

At two of our tracks the majority of people have 75 so having a 27 would
be advantageous.

My next big purchase is going to be a FM 27MHZ synthesized radio and
receiver so I can dial in any of the frequencies. Something like the
Airtronics M3 or the M8.

Wrong. There are PLENTY of high-end radios that come in both 27 & 75
MHz varieties, & some(like my KO Propo EX-1 Mars) have interchangable
transmitter modules that allow you to switch between either. Also, on
75MHz the channels are spaced much closer than on 27MHz, so actually
it's concievable that 75MHz could be MORE prone to interference(though
I haven't noticed any difference either way). Granted, more RTR's &
toys do use 27MHz, but at the track, it's a minor issue, & because of
the sheer number of racrs using 75MHz, sometimes it's actually easier
to get an open frequency on 27(which is why I use 27MHz myself more
than 75). Best thing I can recommend, is to check out who you're
running your cars with, & see what band they're using, look to see if
one has more channels available most of the time, & try to go with
those open channels...

Until the kid down the street who knows nothing about freq control, and
could care less, goes out in the street to play with his new R/C Hummer
from Wal-Mart on YOUR frequency!
