Hi all,

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but users of the Multiplex Helios variometer don't have to use the little earpiece that they give you...there's a far more entertaining option.

If you get one of those fake cassettes that allow you to plug a CD player into a tape deck, you can play the vario over your car speakers. Instant 300W vario!

If you've ever had to listen to a fellow club member's lousy choice of music all day because they insist on playing "Banjo Rhythms of the South Pacific" really loudly (you think I'm joking, don't you?), think of this as revenge. An hour listening to this thing will drive the most hardy person completely nuts.

Want to hear the most annoying sound in the world? :D :D

Anybody who would subject his flying buddies to "Banjo Rhythms of the South Pacific" deserves anything he gets... my word, just the title is enough to make me want to cry! John

I was at a club contest were someone had a vario that was on a small speaker and not an earplug. I noticed that most of the other pilots in his heats followed his plane but stayed far away from him. I guess that they did not want to appear to be listening in but were following his every rise.

Take care Jim

BTW like the dactyl name John

Sort of off topic....I'll risk it:).
What is the difference between a banjo and a South American Macaw?
One is loud, obnoxious and noisy. The other is a bird.
Fly on.

OOOOOoooo... that's bad!

Say, SoarNeck, do you have a web site for that vario or anything like it? Sounds interesting to this ol' "dinosoar". John
