View Full Version : Strange Gyro Behaviour?

I have just been checking over my Raptor, prior to (weather permitting)
going flying tomorrow. I noticed some strange behaviour from the tail rotor
servo/gyro (JR 810G and CSM 400).

If I apply full left rudder (in non-HH mode), the servo zips the rudder over
and stops. When I release the stick, the servo zips back to neutral, as you
would expect. However, "neutral" seems to be different, depending on whether
the servo is returning from right or left rudder. Surely this can't be
right? I have tried to get the linkage running as freely as possible and
there don't appear to be any burrs on the shaft, though the overall
mechanism is perhaps not as free as I would have expected. In fact, I
disconnected the linkage and found that the servo horn still doesn't return
to the same neutral, so it appears to be an electrical issue.

Does this suggest a gyro problem, a servo problem, low batteries (now on
charge prior to tomorrow's session), something else or "none of the above"?

Any thoughts?

Thanks.

Tim

Tim,
I"m pretty sure this is normal in HH mode. My GY401 does the same
and I did read somewhere (possibly Runryder) where this was normal. Does it
do it in normal mode?

I'm pretty sure normal-mode is what he's talking about

Yes, I was talking about normal mode, but having flown yesterday, it doesn't
actually seem to cause any problems.
