When I fire up my Rappie, the engine rev's high, but after a few seconds
die's down to a nice idle speed, what's happening? and does it matter?

This is normal, I bet you are starting your machine in this order... open
throttle to start position, place glow driver on plug/extension, then open
fuel isolation, then spin engine to start... so the engine starts a bit
lean and then settles into idle...
