engine performance boost?

:( HI, one more question , I found this in an article on engine performance, have you ever done the removal of the spark screen in the muffler?
I have an echo lawn trimmer IM converting for R/C flight and the article mentions something about the spark arrester screen being removed, The only place I can see a screen is just under the exhaust outlet on the muffler with 2 screws holding it on
is this the right screen?

I would if you are able to remove it easily. I've seen them stop up on well used yard equipment. In that case I usually just remove and keep using with no negative effects.
