I want to build my SPA3D, but I need some help finding the screws. Could someone kind enough possibly take a picture of a deck screw? Also, what is a Lowes screw? As in," #6 x3/4" long self tapping screws (Lowes) "

Lowes is a home improvement store. A deck screw is just a long wood screw like a drywall screw, but with galvanizing. Don't get hung up on those things. Use whatever screws you can find, I had #4 screws, not 6's, no big deal. I also have some #6 machine screws w/ nuts, and even 4 pop rivets! As long as the coro will stay in place, you could just use duct tape!

You probably have plenty of stuff around the shop, but if not, just get some smallish screws, and some bigger screws, and maybe a beer, and you should be good to go!!! The joy of SPAD is the S part, SIMPLE :-) Have fun!!!

The sky is wide open to improvising, check out my latest Spa3d (http://spadworld.net/viewtopic.php?t=5084) made from 1" square tubing. As for screws...believe it or not, I have an old coffee can in my garage full of over 20 years worth of screws, nuts, bolts etc...so...when I started building Spads, I just rummaged through the can and found whatever worked. The reason the plans are spicific on screw sizes, is because I started getting e-mails form guys wanting an exact size, since they were on their way to the store to buy screws! So, going back to the basics...just use what will work...that's what I still do!!! :D

Nice SPA3D V.2!;)

One more question.... What does it mean if a screw is a #6 or #whatever?

#6 etc is the diameter #6 is bigger than #4

the dry wall screws are almost the same as MDF screws

I use panhead sheetmetal screws since they have nice deep threads and nice points. thudriver

Since I didn't have any sheet metal type screws around, I just used nuts and bolts for all my SPADs.
6-32 for the big stuff and any small hardware I could find for the tail section. Just put some glue on the nuts to keep them from falling off.
I use the good stuff on the engine mounts. :)

Building a Spad3D is not rocket science, you deal with metric size screws.I would not use deck screws I would use sheet metal! They must have them there.the # 4 are about the size of 3mm or use the theory of it looks good enough to hold it,it must be the right size LOL .From you atar it looks like you are a good builder.Servo screws are 2mm and 3mm so you can judge from there. GoodLuck and enjoy the 3D and I hope you like high alpha flying
