View Full Version : Which motor? (has to be kind of mild)
I am thinking about replacing the motor in my Evader ST with something a
little faster. I am using the factory ESC (some cheap Duratrax unit) for
now, so I can't get too wild. Any suggestions? The truck has a Duratrax
Photon Speed 20x1 right now.
Thanks,

Wow, saw your post and had to reply. Ive had my ST for about a month now.
The brushes in the Photon quickly wore out but instead of buying new ones I
decided to just replace the motor as was recommended to me many times. I
bought THE most economical 19T motor I could find, PeakRacing Jaguar 19x2...
$16 at Tower. Along with it I bought some Trinity 4380 serrated hard
brushes & Trinity springs , medium(green4028S) and ocourse the requisite
comm stick and motor cleaner. The speed difference is very noticable vs the
Photon however, with that said, Im expecting delivery of a Chameleon2 PRO
tomorrow. Not that my 3 yr old son and I NEED the extra ooomph but my
curiousity has gotten the better of me !

Actually, I think you'll like the Chameleon2, we've started using that
& some ARCOR spec 19 turn motors at a local track here, & they are
pretty stout little motors. The top end on them is no higher than a
Revenge of the Monster stock(currently the hot stocker from Trinity,
definitely their highest-revving stock motor), but the C2's & ARCOR
motors put out a LOT more power & torque so it's easy to gear them
tall & you'll have plenty of speed.....:)
What kind of gearing are you using with the new motor? How did the
chameleon 2 work out? You are running the stock speed control right? I
have the Chameleon 2 on order as well, as well as a set of pinion gears and
some motor cleaning stuff. I figure I should learn all I can from you since
you are a few steps ahead of me.
Thanks,
