Hello,

I have a Great Planes Spirit 100 kit that I am going to build over the winter. I havn't built or flown any fixed wing stuff in about 12 years (except for my full scale Hawker 748!). Have been flying a Corona heli for about 6 months.

My questions:

a) can I use mini servos in the Sprit (ie HS81's, or should I stick with a standard size sevo)?

b) is there an easy way to build the kit with a two-piece wing?

c) if it is not too difficult, I would like to add a electric motor to the Spirit. Is it a good candidate for power? What would be the way to go - brushed or brushless? I know the advantages of brushless, but investing in another expensive motor doesn't exactly interest me if I don't know how much use it will get!

Also, if you have any specific building tips for the kit, I would appreciate those!

Best Regards,

Jarrett S.

HS 81 or 85 servos should be plenty strong for the Spirit 100. I say that because I have used them on 4 3m composite planes, launching with a hot winch. I actually prefer the plastic gear servos, even for flaps. The metal gear servos always seem sloppier. I don't have to replace gears often and its cheap and quick when I do.
