Im looking for plans or dimensions for some really small spads.
Pizza Box Flyer, QHOR, Etc. for TD .010/TD.020/ TD.049
I just picked up three sheets of 2mm Coro from the sign shop and I have a couple of micro flight packs sitting around with these small engines.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

blabree

Go Here (http://spadworld.net/viewforum.php?f=58) and look for a guy named Billybob...he is the small Spad guru! :)

A 50% DPS was a very sweet little flyer. I used a thunder tiger GP.07 with 15% fuel.
It had 3 micro servos with std rec and battery (Aileron, elevator and throttle) and was made with 2mm coro including the fuse.

Just take the DPS plan and x all dimensions by.5

I'm new to the spad concept. Been involved a lot with 1/2A and the like. Have Norvel .074,,, interested in the 1/2 size DPS. Where to get plans?

www.spadtothebone.com

go to the spad originals, click on DPS and divide dimensions by 0.5

use all 2mm coro and build LIGHT

Try this one! I like it, 26" span shifts like a rocket.

If you build one let us know what you think of it.

The whole thing can be made from on peice of 500 x 1000 x 2 mm

Woodsy and Brett,

Many thanks. Yes, I agree,, build light. Aside from using 2mm material what else? Carbon fibre channel? Small Nimh packs? Minimum servo requirements? Park Flyer type Rx?

For the radio equipment, you will want a micro rx, like the Hitec 555 or equivalent, mini servos, like the Hitec HS81MG (MG only!) or equivalent, 270mah batt (with Nimh, you can go with twice the capacity). Don't bother with a rudder servo, you don't really want rudders on these little ones anyway, and the weight penalty isn't worth bothering. All 2mm, including the fuse and control surfaces, cut the spar down to about 1/2"-5/8". You can use pvc or yardstick to fashion formers for the fuse, which should be about 2" square. For the rest of the measurements, multiply the DPS measurements by .5 or .6. They are touchy with cg, start at around 22-23% chord here, not 25%. You can substitue a heavier component here or there (example: you have everything but the micro rx, go ahead and use a regular full size one) and you should be okay, as long as your wingloading is around 13 oz./sq. ft. or lower you should be okay.

in the "bugi" i used a 1mm carbon spar down the stab but apart from that i used fairly standerd mini servos (hitech 81's?) but if you go for the ripmax sd150's (sometimes called protec) then you cant go far wrong these are excellent for the price.

SD 200 bit bigger but just as good.

Well,
Here is what I did with a 28x14 piece of 2mm white coro and some scrap balsa/spruce/plywood.
Waiting for my micro flight pack from Hobby People.
The engine is an old Golden Bee from 1970 or so. It has a throttle sleeve.
I started out with a TD.010 went to a .020 then after reading a lot of stuff on the forums I decided on the .049. It looks right.
The airfoil and spar were my cobble based on a lot of things Ive read and pictures Ive seen in these forums
I'll post some finished shots when I get the radio installed and try for a few flight shots(if it flys) later.

another view.
oh yeah, the stars are coming when I find a source. I tried cutting out a few by hand, what a fiasco!!

Here is another small one I built a couple of weeks ago.
speed 280 with kokam cell.
2mm single layer wing and bamboo skewers for the tail boom.

Found some 2 mil coro. Thanks to all for the input. Gonna have a bunch of fun this winter trying some nutty design ideas,,, like deltas and bipes. :D  :D
