Welp my next 1/2a project looks like its going to be a PBF for a Norvel .061. Seeing as I have a pile of foamboard I purchased when it was on sale to build Control line Platter planes I'm going to build a couple 1/2a planes from it.
First in this adventure will be a PBF built from the foamboard instead of from coroplast. I think it will be lighter than a coroplast one and hopefully as durable. Any suggestions as to the dimensions to start out with are more than welcome. I was thinking either 16x16 or 14x14

Foam's cheap try both see what ya like better.
I did a coroplast one at 24x24 with a 0.19 on it. Sugested power was all the way up to a 0.40. It flew with the 0.19 I didn't fly it that much kept breaking props on almost every landing/flop. I might just resurrect it with some wheels and maybe a 0.40
Based on how mine flew with a 0.19 I'd try it at a 14x14 for the Norvel.

I've experimented with a 1/2a PBF. I have had lots of fun bashing my 18x18 coroplast PBF. It is 3mil coro that came on top of aluminium sheets we use at work. I powered it with a throttled .074 Norvel and used 3 hs81's and a hs55 for throttle. It's amazing how much fun you can have with something so simple and costs so little.

I'm still in the process of finding a good supplier for coroplast without spending a fortune on shipping. I have a few other projects in mind for some spad type planes but a severe lack of coroplast specially the thinner thickness.

I did find some corroplast at the local "Hobby Lobby", the home decorations store, not the hobby shop. If you have one in your area give it a try.

They have all migrated to this plastic board here. None of the sign shops here stock coroplast in any quanity. The one I found that did wants a fortune for it.

Bud,
If you haven't seen it check out Harbor Sales. They have free shipping on orders over $25.00. They have the lowest prices on coroplast.

Election signs are a good source of corroplast.
