So I have used FMS a few times to get some plane stock time with a 2 axis joypad on my PC...
I want to try some heli time and practice but nothing I do with the joypad setup seems to allow for Heli control at all !?!?!
I have calibrated and set it up fine for everything else... Whats the secret ??

Have you set up the channels in the bottom 4 entries on LH side of the calibrate screen ? Those are the ones used for helis and many people miss them.

DOH !!! Thanks Steve... Thats the trick...
OK how would most people set up a heli... Throttle (pitch) and roll for left and tail and nick (??) on the right I am assuming ??? That seems to feel about the most natural....

Also anyway to decrease sensitivity in one or all controls (tail is snappy with my crappy controller)...

hmmm... Dont think it will help actually it seems like that pot on the controller has gone 'digital' rather than analogue...
I am now trying the controller upside down with different mapping but its a start :) !!!

I use a Hitec Focus 4 TX, and the mapping may be different from your controller, but this is how I set my heli section up:
Tail - ch.4, checked Inv (reverse) and Exp (exponential)
Nick - ch.2, same as Tail
Roll - ch.1, did not check Inv, but did check Exp
Pitch - ch.3, checked Inv and Exp
This mapping setup is somewhat different than the one I use for the aircraft, but the use of Rev on tail and Exp on throttle were needed to make the helis work - well, at least the way I thought they should. However, since I don't fly helis, I'm not sure if the direction of tail rotation or the forward/backward flight modes are mapped correctly for the stick movements. If not correct, you will change, of course. All this assumes that this setup will work with your hardware, etc.
Please let us know how you make out.

Been doing fine... I am currently using a PSX pad as stated so I was just trying to work out how most Heli pilots set up thier sticks...
Pitch and Tail = Left stick
Nick and roll = Right stick
How does a CP pilot handle throttle and pitch adjustments ???
