Now I know that most of you are dyed-in-the-wool Big Bird WarBird types, however all those ads in mags. indicate that some just like to fly War Birds of even the smaller sizes for fame and glory. Right?
Now if you are in the Houston, TX area let me tell you about something that we at Jetero have tried to get going big time. Yet it seems that we are not adequately getting the message out to you to let you share in the excitement and fun.
The item is Scale War Bird racing or as we now call it, "Mini Reno".
Our next event is Sat. Oct. 25 9AM until done.
The model gets a quick look over for static scale judging (Sure they're all ARFs -- almost) for 40% of final score and the 4-5 rounds of racing. It's a blast and we do have a good time.
Races start in the air from behind a chase plane, so no hairy take-offs required. Take-offs are one at a time same as landings. Just need to be able to do 20 left turns -- 10 laps.
Let me invite you to this 10/25 event which we call the *Fall Warm-Up* for the *Spring Classic* which has a bit more in the awards department. Heck, once the slowest plane there did tops in static and finished all his races and won first place. The real racing types (Meeee?) usually cut out.
Besides Jetero is well known for its food and superior club-owned flying facility over 100 acres of flat farmland. Ya'll come see us now.
