This is the Clarke Industries 1/4 scale cockpit. I think it might be outsourced like his Pilots are by Petes Pilots, I don't know if they do the cockpits but wherever they come from they are very complete but tricky to get together. With the side panels and controls there are over 100 pieces in it. It still takes quite a bit of scratchbuilding to make it right but I am happy with the progress, just have to get the wife to sew up a leather seat pad.
these side panels are from the Clarke site.
Good Luck

Beautifully done Paul - looks superb.
Saw a similar style cockpit in a 1/3rd scale Hurricane a few years ago. On that one the joystick, throttle and rudder pedals all worked along with the flight controls and you couldn't see an external linkage at all.

Hi Paul,
it may not be of much use, but here's a pic of a full-size spit cockpit I took at a recent air show. I have a number of other images if you need them.
Best wishes

Hi Chris,
thanks, I have a few pics of cockpits with that blind flying panel ( a later replacement I believe) but I prefer the original square one. Here is a photo from the Spit Mk IX pilots manual. If you notice on my Instrument panel I still need to put the supercharger warning lamp 13 and the warning plates around it and the intercooler protector pushbutton 15. The reason is I may use an led to simulate the lamp for a battery check light.
Good Luck

Amazing detail. I wish I had that kind of patience. Although it doesn't look very comfortable to sit in.

More comfortable than sitting in the back seat of the Ju87 about 100 yards in front though ;)
My son and I had the great joy of being able to sit in the cockpit of a MkIX Spitfire a few years ago at an Open Cockpit day at Cosford. On the ground the main thing that strikes you is that it's impossible to see anything at all over the nose and you've to really crane your neck to get any decent rear visibility as well. Haven't had the chance to compare what that is like in the air though.

I sat in a MkXVI a few years back and was quite amazed at how comfortable it was. Granted, I was not wearing flying gear but I'm 6'4" tall and about 200 pounds and it was not nearly as cramped as I expected. Or maybe I was just too thrilled to notice!

I'm looking for a 1/6 scale cockpit like this. Anyone know of one?
