Just come across this on USENET and thought it would be useful to post the link here. It's a neat method of indicating the Centre of Gravity, armed with some basic measurements from your model.

That's a very handy calcualtor for the Mean Aerodynamic Chord (MAC) of a single taper, trapazoidal planform. For planforms of multiple taper see:
http://perso.wanadoo.fr/scherrer/matthieu/english/mce.html

This is the rest of the story. The CG placement in relation to the MAC should be determined on the basis of the tail volume coefficient, the purpose of the model and the flying style of the pilot. The horizontal tail volume coefficient takes into account the tail moment arm length and the horizontal tail area in relation to the wing. The bigger the tail volume coefficient, the farther back the CG will be located for the desired degree of pitch stability.

Thanks for that one ollie! I like how it includes wing area and AR.
