"Ask and Ye shall Receive"
I asked about such a forum and here it is. WOW!
Lo and Behold, I am cruising through the forum lists and the forum is all set up and moving, except that dad-burned other Jim, the Branum one above, beat me here and has already built a cozy little nest.
So just Drats and Dog-Gones and Shucks things.
As an AMA District VIII Vice Presidential balloted candidate, I too am campaigning for election to the AMA District VP position. I previously served as a District VI VP back in '79 -- '82 so I know what awaits me.
You can find a bit more of a campaign statement up there in the E-Zone Open Forum page 4 of "Are you an AMA member"?
Of course not all the *purty pit-chers" are on the forums.
Going around D-VIII is a "flyer" that has some of those pictures showing such things as CL Stunt days, Winning FF contest days, USAF jet pilot days, UAL Captain days, sport and IMAA RC flying, and helping kids, along with a model taken picture of the RC field that I established on an area of 100 flat farmland acres.
Here you will see a picture showing me when I was young, handsome, (Whaaat? You don't mean that -- Do YOU!) and not overly starved-to-death. I was manning an AMA Booth at a Chicago trade Show.
Now you will hear me talk about MORE Flying Sites, and LESS AMA (Big Brother) rules. Others in this election process recognize that approach and are hanging onto the boat albeit they swim a bit differently.
You see, Troops, I have been involved in a couple other political things, not as a candidate, but enough to know that when YOU approach local politicians reference RC properties, the Local Politician has one thing on his/her mind and that is, "What's in it for me?"
Therefore the AMA needs to be very proactive in arranging all kinds of national publicity for model aviation of all disciplines. You bet that AMA can do more for your hobby/sport than furnish insurance, lots of charter/safety-code rules, and an annual dues bill for you.
AMA needs to assure that the L-P will think, "Hey these people do good things and if I help them, I will gain many brownie points with the local media, thus more votes comes the next election."
What you need to do is to insure that well versed modelers, with only advancing the status of model aviation as their primary objective, are elected to the AMA Executive Council.
Don't forget that the ballot will be with your dues bill, and is easy to shove aside until next year. Detach it now, mark Horrace Cain as your very wise choice, and drop it in the mail.
