Hi all,
someone posted an interesting idea in the indoor section of the site, perhaps some of you could comment on it, as I'm very curious to see what you all make of it.

Barny,
Try this web site for a flying pancake www.vought.com/heritage/.
Read the technical reasons for the V-173 and the XF5U.

Until you went to the circurlar configuration with air flowing over the wing radially, there would be a serious pitch trim and stability problems. For pitch stability, the CG needs to be ahead of the aerodynamic center referenced to the direction of travel. If the direction of travel reverses the CG must be shifted by more than 50% of the wing chord. Then the nose down pitching moment of the highly cambered airfoil has to be matched with an equal and opposite moment to achieve pitch trim.
With the circular planform the same problems arise when ever the aircraft moves laterally at any appreciable air speed.
