This forum has motivated me to dig out this old stuff that has been burried in the back for over 10 years.
The Mermaid ( 80ish ARF) was built by my son in law who poured the nose full of resin and 7 1/2 shot for ballance , the resin got hot , the plastic deformed and the blob sort of gelled but never set up, so it ended up on the shelf. Now I am thinking of cutting it off and replacing it with a glass viewing port video. We never flew the thing and I don't think the motor has ever been run.
If it could loose a pound or two I think my Jeti 45/3 might get it off of the water, has anyone else had one of these planes ?
The Islander kit is a must build for electric , a friend had one back when and we had a blast with it , the fun on the water is equal to the antics in the air, with a hot 40 the plane would do very strange aerial maneuvers.
The old Gee Bee floats came off of a 60 size Pitts , it flew great , the right float developed a crack in the seam from touch and goes and gathered up a pint of water , sloshing back and forth in the float at just the worst of times:D
Fun on the Water , yippie!
