I am pleased to announce that in addition to the quality scale sailplanes that we already import from Europe’s finest craftsmen, EMM will now import the Krause line of classic German scale sailplanes. Krause kits offer the pilot who wants to spend a little less money a very reasonable way to enter the world of 1/3 scale ships. What you trade is a little labor to build these more traditional “Rohbau” German sailplane kits. Kits will require some building skills but offer the highest standard of components. White gel coated fuselages and Obeche sheeted wings and tail surfaces. Details are on our web page (more to follow). Call or email to place an order or inquire, we have an order going in as we speak.
The LET Model 5.33 meter all molded DG 1000 (in 1/3.75 scale) and the new LET 6 meter molded Ventus 2c (1/3 scale) are available now for special order, call or email for our factory direct prices. We are LET’s U.S. representative and we have models in stock with prices on most models on the EMM web page. I am currently flying the Molded DG 1000 (The first one in the U.S. last fall) and it has proven to be a superior flyer. Available in blue or red decor outside, red or blue interior appointments, and tinted blue or clear canopies. We also have a direct arrangement with LET to provide the retract with optional Becker servos pre-mounted in the unit.
Perhaps you saw mine flying at the JR Aerotow or Pensacola Florida Aerotow. We have JR Data safe set up files for this and other in the complete LET line, including The exquisite 1/3.75 Minimoa and the 5.4 meter Reiher, ASH-26, DG-800s and others in 1/3 scale. Some feature pre-covered and hinged Obeche foam wings. All are ready to insert servos and fly with complete cockpit details.
EMM and LET are also co-developing the first practical scale up and go unit for large models. Until now Elicker units have been provided, but they are less than satisfactory on 5-6 meter ships. The new unit will be revolutionary in its simplicity, efficiency, and ease of use. The unit has successfully turned a 22/8 prop at 5400 rpm’s, drawing only 55 amps on 30 cells. We fully expect to develop 16-18 pounds static thrust. We have achieved our goal of a 3 minute full throttle motor run with out frying, melting or otherwise damaging the motor or battery. I have developed a passive and active cooling system specifically for this application. We are now tackling the more mundane but necessary issues such as a prop arresting system and electronic sequence switching systems with the help of JR radio research team. Stay tuned. I may bring the first prototype to the NEAT fair for folks to see.

John Derstine
