How about this! Use this Thread to post links to interesting waterplane web sites not otherwise covered (or in addition to other coverage if you think it appropriate) on our forum.
I'll start it out with a nice link picked up from Fred's (Fredrick W) web site - this guy is SERIOUS about bulding big scale flying boats and does beautiful work.

Dick:

I agree that the Aussie site is very spectacular.

I find that Alan Tong from Auckland, New Zealand maintains one of the best 'LINKS' I have found. While Alan's list is not specific to waterplanes, it sure covers the map.

Visit Rudderman98s Martin Mars thread at

to see a magnificent scale waterplane build and fly project. The flying starts near the bottom of page 13 but it would be a shame to miss all that went before.

Great job, Perry!!!!

Just don't want you waterbugs to miss anything. "Hippo" (of Foamfly fame) designed this neat FFF Staggerwing a while back and couldn't resist putting one on floats.

Skip on over to:

http://www.foamfly.com/gallery/StaggerFloats

to see photos and a video of his waterplane experience. I've got the Staggerwing plans and will put mine on floats when its finished.

Several pages of PBYs, both full scale and RC, can be seen at:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=58937&perpage=15&pagenumber=1

Scale modelers are a good source for construction technique, etc. Its expecially nice when they do waterplanes; just wish I were in their class.

Maybe one day . .

Wow thats incredible how he rigged his plane to drop depth charges. Anyone know how you could go about doing/learning how to do that. I have been very interested in doing something like that on my submarines/planes/boats but have failed to find any soures for help.

Good idea, Dick!

http://www.classicaero.com/main.html

For scale flying boat fans, the link above is a great page. Its owner, Al Mrock, of Oxford, Michigan builds museum quality scale flying boats.

The attached jpg is of a project underway that will have two 1/6 scale Sikorsky S-38's attempting a 50 mile crossing from Copper Harbor, MI to Isle Royale in Lake Superior during August of 2005. The photo has Al (on the left) and an old friend of mine, Larry Markey, of Northville, MI shaking hands on the project. Notice that this was witnessed by a snowman and a 1/6th hull underway. :) The yellow winged boat is a 1/12 scale electric powered S-38 warming up in Al's shop.

The poster advertises a flying boat service that ferried passengers from the Copper Country to Isle Royale in 1932. The Royale Line's founder's grandson, C.H. Wescoat II, has provided historical material for documenting the birds that are on the building boards and will be hosting our base camp in Copper Harbor for the crossing.

Once this project starts gathering steam, we will probably post a thread for folks interested in following it.
