How about a switch harness with an intermitent on/off switch, and having an "on" beep and different "off" beep?Mayby even a beep every 30 seconds or minute,to say "I'm Still On". Or/and having to hold for say 5 seconds to turn off.How many times have glider guys tossed a plane that was turned off?Me? Twice........once with an .049 pulling it up:eek:

I think a little bright, flashing LED mounted to a very visible part of the plane would be very nice - you wouldn't have to wait 30 seconds to hear a beep or have a shorter period (and therefore more annoying) between the beeps. This could be done with a 555 timer and a flip flop like a 74HC74 (http://www.ee.washington.edu/circuit_archive/circuits/F_ASCII_Schem.html#ASCIISCHEM_005)

Of course, you could go with a general purpose PIC for a couple bucks, time the flashing rate in software and have room for plenty of other functionality as well. :D (Or just go buy the curtek lights and be done with it altogether!)

I was thinking along the lines of the slightly absent minded, you dont have to look to check a beep.LEDs can be hard to see in bright sunlight also.I believe led based battery/status lights are already available.

oh, oh, I know...

Lets take that PIC and program it to have the servos go nuts :D ! Would that get your attention?

(maybe it would get your attention faster if you also forgot to unplug the motor battery - ever seen a plane try to takeoff in the back of your car? I have... )
