For all micro helis Robin, Piccolo, Hummingbirds, Skylark, Hybrid, DIY and other clones.

Astro,

Perhaps you can use one of these frames in liew of the MIA Rtrofit LG for the Piccolo to fit your Hummingbird. I got other style frames which Ai will post in the new web site, perhaps also here if I can get a photo of them soon. These are available through Helihobby. Come in kit with wire struts and molded angles Skids. You can easily fit a MIA Hughes 500 Body over these frames or use any other sporty canopy.

Mario,

Are you planning on offering them in Carbon again? WHat is the weight difference between carbon and G10?

Thanks in advance.

Steve

Hi Steve,

There wasn't much difference in carbon with the G10 ones except price is much higher for carbon and of course carbon has that glossy weaved pattern.

The G10 material I use has fiberglass and carbon powder mixture so this stuff is very light already, tuff and also looks very nice , it has more a matte semi-gloss finish and can be priced at a level everyone can afford.

I am only doing carbon frames for custom private work. Carbon is very hard and can be very messy to work with, thus the higher proice tag for labor and parts. Most of you modelers already know that.

Mario,

I'm considering the CP upgrade for my Hummingbird from Heli-Hobby. I noticed there were some modification that needed to be made to the HB frame to accomodate the CP head and shaft. Does your G-10 frame make the conversion to CP any easier? I'm incredibly happy with my HB, but have broken enough landing skids to make me want a G-10 frame.

Thanks,

Jason

And I had a question about the bearing and boom mount - are they glued in place? As far as I can tell they are.

I am looking at building a CP hybrid too.

Jason and Steve, read the other post about the G10 frames in the "micro heli" discussion area here on E-Zone.

I designed the frames to be as universal as much as possible for any micro heli. Slight variation in mechanics specially with collective pitch mechanics and if you want to include a custom gear that has an autorotation clutch will require you to size the shaft accordingly, but everything else should be a breeze.

Note that you are using flanged Piccolo shaft bearings for 3 mm shafts or if hummingbird shares these types of bearing then they should go into the g10 frames with a slight press fit, there should be no need to glue them.

There have been posts here on E-Zone also on hybrid micro heli conversion using the MIA G10 frames and mechanics from diferent helis. You might want to look into them with search function on G10 Frames.
